Snowman Coloring Craft
My build a snowman craft and writing prompts are the perfect, no prep winter activity for 1st and 2nd grade. 3 templates ensure that every Frosty the snowman activity on your January bulletin board is unique! Post your snowman crafts and prompts in the hallway to make an engaging winter display.
If you’re racing to figure out what cute project to quickly put up in the hallway for winter, look no further. Students can complete the snowman craft in one class period. And you can use the accompanying writing prompts to post alongside your Frosty the snowman craftivities.
Basically, each child receives a copy of the template. Then, they color everything, cut out the parts, and glue it together. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!
This snowman craftivity also comes with a PowerPoint with step-by-step pictures and simply written directions for young children. Use it for either whole group or small group instruction. Or, assign it to students via Google Classroom, Canvas, etc. so they can work independently.
Are you going to be absent and your substitute won’t have access to technology? No problem! Use the 1-page all-in-one step-by-step picture directions. Just print it out and include it with your sub plans. And then do nothing. Yes, nothing, because I’ve done it all for you!
You Will Receive
- 1 Non-Editable PDF Printables – Includes a teacher guide, a step-by-step handout for substitute teachers, snowman templates, writing prompts, and blank writing paper pages.
- 1 Non-Editable PowerPoint Slideshow – Includes large, step-by-step picture directions and text so students independently and you can reclaim valuable class time to work with needy students.
- Google Drive Access Link, so you can assign a paperless version
Why You’ll Love This Winter Snowman Craft
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My 2nd graders and I absolutely loved this snowman build-a-craft activity! Having 3 templates to choose from made our bulletin board incredibly creative, with a delightful variety of snowmen on display.
It’s a fantastic and easy-to-follow paper craft project that’s perfect for 2nd grade, and it added a charming winter touch to our classroom. Highly recommended!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My students loved getting to choose the pieces to create their snowmen. I used this activity for a fun “snowman” themed day before winter break. We briefly talked about the steps on how we created our snowman using temporal words. I will be able to refer back to this activity when we begin our “How-To” writing unit in a few weeks.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love this resource! The students had so much fun writing about their crafts, and they had a blast making their crafts! I cannot recommend this resource, or this seller, enough. All of her products are sheer gold! Thank you!

My fifth graders LOVED this activity! We used it to make digital holiday cards to send to friends and teachers. When the holidays roll around, I like doing craft projects with my students. Unfortunately, we were remote this year, so I wanted to get creative. This resource had the look and feel of a classic winter craft. My students loved being able to customize their own images (the customization options are truly out of this world)!

This is the third resource like this. My students love them and have become fast and experienced with using clip art. They all have a learning disability of some kind but practicing with your fun projects has made them skilled and a great asset on their group projects. In addition some of the skills are transfering over to their online writing as they are not fearful any more of losing things when they move them. thanks Educational and fun.

This was a great resource the only hard part was having my Second grade students drag and drop on the activity. Some of them were getting frustrated. So I ended up helping some of them by copying and pasting what they wanted on the side of their slide so they could drag it onto their slide.

The students loved working with the slides to make their own images. This was a huge success as a solution for distance learning. Plus it bought me time to record my projects (paper/pencil etc) so I didn’t have to work on the weekends and I could still quickly provide an activity in time for the kid’s class session. LOVE these! 🙂
a Colorful Mixture (Teacher-Author) –
I purchased this resource after having success with lessons from Glitter meets Glue in the past. This resource does not disappoint, my students were completely engaged and loved the project. These resources are fantastic and have great step by step directions.
Sunny Days in First Grade (Teacher-Author) –
This was a fun activity for my first graders to do before Winter Break. I did not use all the slides with my students, as I thought there might be too many “choices” for my younger students to manage, but they still had a great time accessorizing their snowmen. I will definitely use this in future years, too.
