What’s Included
Can I be honest with you? Art history can sometimes be boring for kids. There, I said it. Teaching about artists and cultures doesn’t have to be a snoozer, though!
I’ve designed 3 different ways for students to attempt any of these art projects. All will engage kids to create! Choose which way works best for your classes.
- Roll a dice games to add randomness to your student’s artwork
- “You Pick” idea worksheets for kids to choose their own elements
- Digital spinner wheels, so kids can randomly pick elements and you can integrate technology in the art room
- Printable dice template in case you have no dice
- Step-by-step picture directions to guide students through the art process
- Drawing practice worksheets, for kids who want to sketch out their ideas
- Artist biographies about the life and work of each modern artist, so you don’t need to research
- “Big Ideas” reflection worksheets where students write about their art process
- Self-assessment worksheet so kids can think about how they performed during the project
- Art grading rubric which assesses expectations, craftsmanship, work habits, creativity, and clean-up
- “I CAN” Statements aligned to the Studio Habits of Mind to use during instruction or post on your bulletin board
- Art exit tickets with quick, thought-provoking prompts
- Art history coloring page to keep kids inspired by these modern artists outside of the art room

Wowzers! What a great deal for this bundle! I often use these as sub activities or early finisher projects. I always know my students are engaged, learning about art, and are able to be successful no matter the level of instruction possible with different subs.

Great art projects that kids found very engaging. Good for kids who really aren’t very creative. They can use provided drawings. Good for kids who are creative. They can create their own!

My students enjoyed the Joan Miro Project. We are working on a fundraiser where all the kids are drawing their interpretation of themselves in the Joan Miro style. So it was perfect for what I needed. I am looking forward to using the other part of the bundle in the spring time. Thank you for the help.

This has been a great bundle for teaching hybrid. So far, I’ve used two of the lessons with my in class and at home students. The instructions are very easy to follow and easy to use in a variety of environments. One lesson I did with my students myself and the other I left for a substitute to use. It was very easy to prepare the sub notes for this project and the kids had fun with it.
