Read Across America Birthday Hat Game
Need a Read Across America art project for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders for your bulletin board? Imagine your hallway decorated with these birthday hats and writing prompts. The step by step drawing guide, birthday hat template, PowerPoint and demonstration video make perfect no prep, art sub plans for elementary art.
That’s right. Sit back while I teach your students how to play the roll a dice game to draw and paint their birthday hat art project myself! Kids can also choose patterns using the ‘you pick’ worksheet or digital spinners—whatever works best for you!
Plus, it’ll help cash-strapped teachers like you plan creative Read Across America Day activities for March 2nd using only markers. Yes, you can watercolor paint with markers! Incorporating engaging Read Across America activities like this fun birthday hat helps.

LOVED these hats! Students used markers to color their hats and drew the designs with a pencil. Then, I cut them out and laminated them. Parents provided a baby picture of their child and we used both for our Read Across America bulletin board. We added the quote “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” It was absolutely precious!
