Growth Mindset Bulletin Board for Art
Got lots of negative self-talk in the art room? Here’s one way to combat a fixed mindset: promote thinking like an artist with these growth mindset posters! I tell my students, “Artists don’t give up. They’ve just found 100 ways that didn’t work the first time!” I use this growth mindset bulletin board in my own art lessons to boost student’s confidence and I find it quite effective.
Moreover, I have found that growth mindset in the art room increased my student’s productivity because they weren’t hampered by ‘I can’t.” As well, it boosted their motivation to try new things, leading to improved confidence, flexible thinking, and ultimately, resiliency.
More About These Art Posters
Just so you know, I’ve developed these printables specifically with art teachers in mind. There aren’t enough cool things for us! Each phrase is overlapped onto a splatter of paint. And, paint palettes with “Fixed Mindset” and “Growth Mindset” act as headers for the phrases.
Not to mention, all of my growth mindset phrases include inclusive they/their language to promote diversity in the art room.
And to make it easier for you to implement, I’ve added 2 editable PowerPoint files. Type whatever phrases you want!
A large brain with a gray “fixed mindset” hemisphere and a rainbow “growth mindset” hemisphere provides an effective illustration for kids. Additionally, I’ve also included large format brain posters which can be printed online or in a copy center. I recommend printing the large format brain, if you can.
What kid doesn’t want to be on the rainbow side of the brain?
Use the 2 paintbrushes to demonstrate how to brush away all that negative self-talk!
The added printable borders and large “Growth Mindset” title will help finish off your bulletin board display beautifully. I get so many compliments on it.
