Glitter Meets Glue
So many have a love/hate relationship with glitter. Don’t worry. You don’t have to like glitter to be cool with me!
True story: it is the nickname friends use to refer to me by.
Picture it: I’m on the phone with a friend. She’s interrupted for the 20th time and yelling, “I’m on the phone with Glitter Amie!”
So you can call me that. Or just “Amie” is fine.
I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself.
I started Glitter Meets Glue (October 2012) because I was inspired by teachers making creative resources that couldn’t be found in brick and mortar teacher stores.
But what I came to realize over time?
There wasn’t enough cool, fun, exciting, useful, thorough and cutting edge art teacher resources.
❌ No art assessments, educational classroom posters or bulletin board sets for art teachers
❌ Zero soup to nuts lesson plan materials
❌ Absolutely no tech-infused, digital art projects to help me with 21st century learners
As a result, I had to make everything myself from scratch.
Taking a step backwards, I spent my first 4 of 20 years co-teaching. As a highly-qualified art teacher in the State of New Jersey, I taught visual arts. Simultaneously, I was also a co-teacher in 4th – 8th grade classrooms.
So I understand the need to employ arts integration in the regular classroom. Moreover, I get the importance it has in reaching our ESL/ELL and special needs populations.
So, What is Glitter Meets Glue?
It’s a hub of resources for art teachers, classroom teachers integrating art, substitute teachers who need a quick sub plan. Additionally, a resource for homeschooling parents wanting to infuse visual art into their daily and weekly instruction.
My main goal is to design sparkling resources that empower and prepare teachers, instructors, and parents to teach art.
Educational Background
Just so you know I didn’t get my degree from a bubblegum machine, I spent the first 2 years of college going to art school. And honestly? I didn’t love it. Nurturing kid’s creativity is what I felt I was driven to do.
As a result, I switched gears (and schools) and pursued secondary art education. After graduating, I went back to get certified in graphic design so I could help put my school’s yearbook together. This is where my passion for graphics eventually rolled into Glitter Meets Glue!
Here’s a snapshot of where I spent my time in college:
- Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University
- Georgian Court College, B.A. in Secondary Art Education
- U.C.C., Graphic Design Certification
Teaching Experience Beyond the Classroom
During the summer of my first year of teaching, I started my first online business. I parlayed my skills in art, design, and education to create free online tutorial videos.
While I had that business, I was featured in several magazines, books, and websites. And I was even contacted to put together three episodes of a DIY craft show on the DIY Network called, “Uncommon Threads.”
After starting Glitter Meets Glue, I was selected to speak at the 2016 Teachers Pay Teachers conference. I presented a workshop called, “Create Brilliant Covers” where I spoke of my passion of using basic graphics knowledge to create impactful resource covers using best practices.
As a result, I was asked to repeat my presentation at the 2017 FLOCK meet-up in Rochester, New York. And I am a past member of the Advisory Board (2019 – 2020) and Seller’s Search Council (2022) for Teachers Pay Teachers.
So as you see, teaching and learning have been passions of mine that I’ve practiced both in and out of the classroom. I love sharing all that I create with others via Glitter Meets Glue. Nothing gets me more excited than knowing educators all over the world are using my resources in their classrooms. You can see some of those resources in action on my blog.

On A Personal Note
In my spare time, I enjoy oil and watercolor painting, cooking, and anything related to the beach. Additionally, I love craft beer and chronicling the tales of Roxie, my adventourous little kitty cat. She has many nicknames but the one that has stuck the most is, “Kitty Poopadoo!” She’s truly the center of my world.
Lastly, I’m married to my smart and talented husband, Larry, who can fix anything in a pinch. He has a nickname, too: “Tech Support.” We’ve been together for such a long time that I like to say our love is old enough to get a driver’s license.
